Barbara Cohen has over 30 years of employment law and business litigation experience. Ms. Cohen has an active practice counseling employers and defending claims, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims, in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies. She advises clients on the broad range of federal and state laws that govern the workplace, conducts workplace investigations, and drafts and reviews employment agreements, employee handbooks, personnel policies, and non-competition and non-disclosure agreements.
Ms. Cohen has extensive litigation experience, including trials and appeals, in a wide variety of complex civil matters. She has successfully represented national and multinational companies before federal and state courts in environmental, products liability, retail banking, insurance coverage, and trust and investment litigation. She also has successfully represented clients in complex commercial disputes before the American Arbitration Association.
Ms. Cohen is a graduate, summa cum laude, of the University of Pennsylvania, where she is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received her law degree from New York University School of Law.
Ms. Cohen is admitted to the bars of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Districts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and the Western District of Michigan. She is a member of the American, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts Bar Associations.
